Volcanic Environments - Echoes Of Extinction

Echoes of Extinction - multiple new environments to upgrade the area around the volcano in the game.

In June I was tasked with upgrading the surrounding area of the Volcano on the Akura island, as it used to be a wasteland with not much visual or gameplay interest. I ended up creating environments inspired by Yellowstone and Iceland, full of geothermic pools, hot springs, cascading mineral pools, hot mud pools, and a black sand beach. Only the meshes, materials and VFX broken down in this post were created by me, with all others credited to the Echoes of Extinction team. From ZBrush sculpting to Niagara VFX, I ended up creating a full modular kit that was reusable across a multitude of different environments.

Echoes of Extinction is an open world prehistoric horror survival set on a mysterious island inhabited by dinosaurs and tribal humans. Survival is a test of resilience and adaptability. Players must carve their path in this challenging world, competing for territory, resources and ultimately, their own survival.
